2019 2nd Annual FSM Community Day | Celebration of Micronesian Heritage | South Pacific Islander Organization

 

On August 31, 2019, citizens and community allies from the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) gathered at the Blue Lake Regional Park in Fairview, Oregon to celebrate the 2nd Annual FSM Community Day.

The event, hosted by FSM’s Consulate Office in Portland, featured special guests, community tabling, and dances from the four FSM states.

His Excellency David W. Panuelo and the Honorable Wesley W. Simina, amongst other notable FSM and Oregon diplomats, shared updates on the strengthening relationship between the U.S. and FSM.

Vice-President of South Pacific Islander Organization (SPIO), MichaeLynn Kanichy, was present at the event to share educational resources available to citizens of FSM - particularly their free college e-mentorship program, scholarships, and online directory of educational resources.
